Training Holistic Research Innovators Via Education Postdoctoral Fellowships in STEM (THRIVE STEM)
Funded by NSF, the THRIVE STEM Project will support a cohort of three postdoctoral scholars for two years at Rowan University starting in 2025. Our goal is to develop STEM education scholars who have the skills, tools, and supports to thrive.
Research Fundamentals
We have structured our program to help you develop your expertise in STEM Education research methods, data collection and analysis techniques. We will work with you to select a project that will allow you to achieve your goals in developing as a STEM Education scholar (e.g., exploring an unfamiliar research area or developing specific skills). In the second year of your appointment, you will lead a research project of your own design with support from a graduate student and Rowan undergraduates.
Career Growth
We have a number of activities planned that will support your career growth. These include a mentored teaching experience, engagement with our department’s writing accountability group, membership in the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, a custom peer review training offered by Dr. Stephanie Cutler, funding to attend and present at Engineering Education research conferences (ASEE, FIE), and mentored support through developing STEM Education journal publications.
Managing Mental and Social Health
One of the core components of this program is to support you in managing your mental and social health as you complete your post doctoral training. We have an established Community of Practice that you will be welcomed into to start building your professional and social connections. Additionally, we are partnering with Rowan THRIVE to offer customized workshops to meet your needs.
